Pittsburgh, PA – Julie Larsen, BioTeknica, was awarded the Associate Member Award at the 120th AFDO Annual Educational Conference on June 28, 2016.

The Associate Member Award is to be awarded to an Associate Member. Qualification for this award is based upon long-term active membership in the Association, active involvement in committee work, development of model codes and demonstrated promotion of the objectives of the Association. This award is presented each year at the Annual Educational Conference.

The award recipient is determined by the Associate Award Subcommittee which consists of past winners and is chaired by the most recent recipient.

Julie Larsen is a Principal Consultant and Director of Inspection Readiness Services at BioTeknica, Inc., a quality and regulatory compliance and engineering consulting firm in Coral Gables, Florida.  Julie is a Certified Quality Manager (CQM), a Medical Technologist (MTASCP) and has more than 20 years’ experience in quality assurance and compliance in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.

Julie has been an active member of the AFDO Drug, Device, and Cosmetic committee since 2011.  During this time, she has worked closely with other active committee members to identify topics for the annual AFDO educational conference. She has demonstrated an ability to identify topics and speakers that are especially timely and relevant to attendees from both industry and government due to her long diverse professional career in the pharmaceutical, device, and diagnostic industry.  This has been invaluable to the DDC committee and those attending the conference.

In 2014, Julie became Chair of a new subcommittee, the Marketing subcommittee of the Drug, Device and Cosmetic committee.  The charge of the committee was to improve marketing and attendance of the Drug, Device and Cosmetic track at the annual AFDO educational conference. Julie has led a group of seven associate members in the development and execution of a marketing strategy. The group has designed marketing materials, including the promotional materials for the upcoming 2016 DDC track of the AFDO conference.  In addition, the group has started forging relationships with other organizations to serve in cross promotion activities and eventually co-sponsorship.
